I’m a journalist and student of politics and socio-economic development by training or trade. I’ve worked as a ‘real’ journalist (from vegetable prices to crime reporting), a corporate communicator and an operations manager.

I’m very happy to live and work in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa – somewhat off the beaten track, lesser-known than Jo’burg and Cape Town, but a frontier of great diversity and possibility. Somewhere along the line, I got sucked into translating a casual interest in wine into something only slightly more serious – writing a wine column for the Weekend Post in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This has opened up opportunities to taste and write about wine, to meet the interesting people who make and market South African wine, to debate and discuss wine with like-minded wine-lovers, and just generally enjoy it. The wine interest has also crossed paths with my love of food and cooking, and my wanderlust for exploring.

This blog is my avenue for sharing my thoughts on wine, food, cooking and anything else I care to talk about. It’s a series of personal expressions and stories, that I choose to share in the interests mostly of expanding interest in South African wine.
